On a sunny June afternoon Andrew & Philip invited us to visit the walled garden at Westwood House. After a short introduction to the history of the garden, we walked around the newly created flower beds and vegetable raised beds established since Andrew & Philip moved to the property in 2020.
The walls of the garden date back to the 18th century and the glasshouses, which are used for growing grapes, tomatoes, cucumbers and other produce, were built in the Victorian period. The many fruit trees are a reminder of the orchard that once stood here and in one corner there is a wildlife pond, the most recent garden project.
The group enjoyed refreshments which included strawberries and scones, prosecco and apple juice from the garden's apples.
A sale of plants, apple juice and other donations raised £200 which was split between the British Heart Foundation and Kidney Care UK.
